In order to further stimulate the enthusiasm for English learning of freshmen in the International Department and provide them with an opportunity to show themselves, the International Department of our school successfully held an English speech contest with the theme of "My Dream" in the reading room at the beginning of the new semester.

Before the competition, the contestants made careful preparations during the spare time of military training period. Under the guidance and help of foreign teachers and English teachers, they fully polished their speech drafts and repeatedly practiced to improve their speech skills, so as to show their best on the stage. On the evening of September 1, the contestants gathered in the reading room of the International Department. The competition was fierce. After objective evaluation and fair scoring by the judges, Wang Jialin, Yang Mingran, Liu Zhenxuan and Cui Yuanqing stood out and won the first prize; Xu Youpu and other six students won the second prize; Jiang Jiatong and other nine students won the third prize. After the award ceremony, Lei Leilei, Director of the International Department, and Jia Chunrui, English teacher of the International Department, made warm and accurate comments on the overall performance of the students. They not only praised the efforts of the contestants, but also pointed out their shortcomings and encouraged the students to express themselves more confidently.

Highly praised by teachers and students, this English speech contest greatly improved the students' English writing and speaking skills, and also allowed students to gain valuable speech experience.
